                                                              3 Day Potty Training Technique

Be prepared. Make sure that you are fully stocked with plenty of changes of underpants. The extra padded training underpants work well- you just have
to search for them.  They advertise boys and girls-but that's just for the colors.  Make sure to have treats for successful trips to the potty.
Be overly excited about each success and stress what a big boy/girl they are and DON'T BE NEGATIVE. The more positive you are the more success
you will have.
At this stage they can't get "in trouble" for having an accident. It is not always easy being the happy, positive mom when you are cleaning up a nasty
mess
but grin and bare it.

DAY ONE, no underwear and flooding them with juice. Juice goes through them much faster than milk and you want them to be hit time and time again
with that "I have to pee" urge. Juice does the trick. They can get that feeling down after the first day. Set the timer on the oven to go off every twenty
minutes to remind
you to take them to the potty or to ask if they need to go. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. If they don't, every five minutes,  ask until they
do- there is juice in there that needs to go!

Day two, on goes the underwear. Kids tend to treat them like diapers.  Just stay on the clock and have them go.  Of course there will be accidents, but
stay positive.  Persistence will pay off.

Day three, just a repeat of day two. If you have great success on day two, then on with the pants. Otherwise, continue with just the underpants.

During the first month  limit what and where they drink to avoid accidents while you are out. After a month it becomes routine. And all that methodical
thinking will be habit again. It seems like A LOT to think about at first but once you get in the flow, it just becomes habit.

Poop can be another story. Candy rewards sometimes are the only thing to get you through this hurdle.  After a week they usually just forget about the
treats and stop asking.

If we are committed to the process, if we are positive and nurturing and if we are methodical about it and set them up for success the easier it is for
them.

When taking your fresh pottytrainer out for the day and not sure how to go about pottying in public, take a kids potty in the back of your van, suv or even
sedan and line it with the "doggy depot" bags. When your child finishes pottying then you can just tie it up and put it in a grocery bag and either take it
along or throw it out if close by trashcans. This works great for roadtrips!!!
